Designing Eden is pleased to be celebrating its 19th year in the green industry behind the direction and leadership of Richard Schipul.

Designing Eden started as a landscape maintenance business in Trumbull, CT. As the company developed, Richard perceived a need for a landscape company which could create memorable outdoor environments by combining creative design solutions with fine craftsmanship. Trained as a horticulturist and landscape architect, Richard and Designing Eden decided to move into the planning and construction part of the industry, specializing in landscapes for historic houses.

Our business is based on a 10 acre farm in New Milford. With the recently renovated barn and carriage house, we are now in the process of clearing the land with the plan of building a horticultural showplace to include a design office, growing fields and display gardens to excite the senses.

We are a firm that has designed a broad scope of residential and commercial projects. We have worked for a variety of clients including interior designers, architects, home owners and corporations. Each project has provided their own unique set of characteristics. Our work centers on those characteristics by taking into consideration the site’s historical context, environmental attributes and client’s needs. We develop an environmentally sensitive plan using appropriate design styles which result in a sustainable landscape which will be enjoyed for years to come.

Richard’s hands on approach throughout all phases of each project’s development insures a properly managed design of the highest quality. Designing Eden’s thoroughness and attention to detail assures an attractive, personalized landscape which will provide our clients with four seasons of color, interest, texture and joy.
